INTL Scholarship & Scott Credit Union Workshop

It’s Not Too Late Scholarship, to provide scholarship opportunities to local college students (incoming freshmen and returning students). To be eligible, students must attend informational on Thursday, July 16th at 6:30 p.m. at New Life Community Church, 1919 State St, ESL, IL. 62205. For more information, please contact us at INTLScholarship@hotmail.com. This scholarship event is made possible through a partnership with Scott Credit Union. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one student who attends the informational and applies for the scholarship. Also, we will be providing information on our Fall scholarship award for all students (See FAQ page on how to apply).

Susan G. Komen Pink Tie Guy – KSDK News Channel 5

INTL Scholarship Co-founder, Joseph Flanders, has been selected as a 2015 Pink Tie Guy for the Susan G. Komen nonprofit organization. As a Pink Tie Guy, Joseph will help inform, influence and inspire our families, friends and our community to raise funds to help end breast cancer. His mother Gwendolyn Flanders, is a two-time breast cancer survivor, and at age 76 is an active supporter of Susan G. Komen. He wants to recognize her for never giving up while continuing to help others who are facing similar situations.

INTL Scholarship receives donation from AB Foundation

Its Not Too Late Scholarship is proud to continue its partnership with the Anheuser-Busch Foundation.  The AB Foundation contribution supplements their employees’ individual efforts to help support Its Not Too Late Scholarship.  Thanks to generous contributions of Anheuser-Busch employees, the AB Foundation has donated more than $15 million in the past three decades to educational institutions across the country through its Anheuser-Busch Employee Matching Gift Program.  Its Not Too Late Scholarship would like to thank the AB Foundation for continuing to help us “Pay it Forward, One Dime at a Time“.

Scott Credit Union Sponsorship

Its Not Too Late Scholarship is proud to receive a sponsorship from Scott Credit Union.  The Bronze Level Sponsorship (The Scholar) was awarded to our nonprofit organization based on our educational focus in the community and the financial initiatives that we provide to local students. Scott Credit Union has contributed about $330,000 to the community and their employees have volunteered more than 2,700 hours to a variety of local civic efforts throughout the region through the end of 2014.  SCU has also contributed approximately $1.4 million and their employees have volunteered nearly 13,000 hours to a variety of local civic efforts and financial education throughout the region in the past six years.  SCU has increased their community involvement in the past few years while also increasing efforts to educate consumers of the value of doing their financial business with a not-for-profit credit union.  On behalf of the INTL Scholarship board, we would like to thank Scott Credit Union for their support and helping us continue to Pay it Forward, One Dime at a Time.

East St. Louis High School College Fair

For the second time, It’s Not Too Late Scholarship participated in the college recruiting fair at East St. Louis High School (District 189). Applications for the  2015 Fall scholarship award were distributed to college ready students. Students who were also interested in attending Bethune-Cookman University, were given information and applications to be submitted.  The event was sponsored again by the Delta Sigma Theta East St. Louis Alumni chapter.

St. Louis Blues 14 Fund Grant

It’s Not Too Late Scholarship is proud to partner with the St. Louis Blues.  The St. Louis Blues 14 Fund grant was awarded to our nonprofit organization based on our educational focus in the community and initiatives that we provide to local students.  The Blues 14 Fund, in conjunction with the Blues’ community outreach efforts, has a mission to seek out opportunities to use the Blues’ unique resources to positively impact programs and services which improve the health and wellness of youth.  We are excited to impact the lives of deserving college students, while encouraging our recipients to do the same in the future, by coming up with innovative ways to help others.  On behalf of the INTL Scholarship board, we would like to thank the St. Louis Blues for their support and helping us continue to Pay it Forward, One Dime at a Time.

INTLS Board Member donates school supplies

On October 24th – 25th, the Gamma Mu Omega graduate chapter for Daytona Beach, and Gamma Tau, the undergraduate chapter at Bethune-Cookman University, approximately 250 sorority members, representing 15 Florida and South Georgia chapters, attended the annual Bethune-Cookman conference.  “It was a pleasure to host our sisters here in Daytona Beach at Bethune-Cookman University,” said Tracia Culver, president of Gamma Mu Omega Chapter.  “By all accounts they truly enjoyed themselves and the hospitality of our local chapter. 

As part  the One Million Backpacks initiative, which has the goal of donating and distributing one million backpacks and related school supplies over a four-year period, conference attendees donated a total of 150 backpacks filled with school supplies to be dispersed among three Volusia County schools.  Local schools that received the backpacks were Palm Terrace Elementary, Daytona Beach; Edith Starke Elementary, DeLand; and Ortona Elementary, Daytona Beach.  It’s Not Too Late Scholarship Board members would like to recognize Tracia Culver for her extensive work in the community and in the educational field.

The Big Getaway Drawing Fundraiser

Please join the It’s Not Too Late Scholarship board members at the Howard Bison vs. Bethune-Cookman Wildcats Homecoming game on October 11, 2014.  We will have a fundraiser to raise scholarship funding for deserving college students.  In an effort to raise funds, we will have a chance drawing to win a “Getaway Package”.  The 1st prize will be a $150 Southwest Airlines gift card.  The 2nd prize will be a $75 restaurant gift card.  The 3rd prize will be a $25 Visa gift card.  The drawing will be held immediately after the Homecoming football game at the It’s Not Too Late Scholarship tailgate section.  Suggested donations for the chance drawing are $5.00 for 1 ticket, $8.00 for 2 tickets, and $10.00 for 3 tickets.  No donation is required for entry in the chance drawing.  It’s Not Too Late Scholarship is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is registered with the State of Florida (Registration – CH41907).

INTLS Founder is a Health Game Changer

It’s Not Too Late Scholarship Co-Founder, Theresa Flanders, was recognized by the East St. Louis NAACP branch as a game changer in the health field.  Mrs. Flanders was awarded as an Honoree for Health on October 5, 2014 at the 60th Annual Freedom Fund Awards Banquet.  The torch was passed to Mrs. Flanders from Larry McCulley (President & CEO, SIHF & Touchette Regional Hospital) to carry on her tremendous efforts in the health field at St. Louis University Hospital.  A special congratulations goes to Theresa from the INTL Scholarship board members.
